About Me

Multimedia journalist, writer, editor and speaker

My name is Arub Syed and I am a freelance journalist based in England. I cover social, cultural and religious issues, as well as staying up to date with music, events and modern global cinema. I aim to shed light on life's unsavoury truths, ensuring that individuals take ownership of their narratives and can tell their stories with poise, justice and grace.

I conduct several video and audio pieces, and in 2020 released my first documentary in which I interviewed a gay asylum seeker from Pakistan.

I am a public speaker, having volunteered as a faith speaker at primary and secondary schools, and appeared on the panel for Taboo No More at Asian Woman Festival 2019.

In July 2023, I spoke on a panel for Essence Media Com, focusing on judgments in South Asian communities. In November 2023, I was selected to speak for the International United Women Federation for the conference, Faceless Perpetrators: Cybercrime against Women. Most recently in February 2024, I was selected to represent The People, a company amplifying the voices of young people, for their Next-Gen Muslim Report.
